Logline

Sinopsis
Ten years after his wife’s death, a father has never held a funeral, said goodbye, or spoken of her. When a storm brings her voice from the forest, he follows it and does not return. His fourteen-year-old son goes after him. Unlike his father, the boy has mourned his mother in secret for years, and that grief has made him “closed” to the Idol’s bait. The Idol reads this as strength—and chooses him. In the forest, the son uncovers the brutal rules of an ancient soul-eating deity: it traps every soul inside itself, while its unwilling hand, the Monster, survives by transferring into new bodies. The Monster now wears his mother’s body; her soul is trapped inside the Idol, but her voice is real. At the lair, the son finds his father alive and used as bait. He tries to free him, but the Monster attacks. When the boy wakes, he shoots the Monster—his mother’s body—and his father dies in his arms. He buries them both and leaves the Idol behind. Ten years later, it appears in his home, whispering his mother’s words: “I’m here.” He cannot tell whether he is haunted—or chosen.
